5 Nations Adult Safeguarding and Protections Seminar Series 2026

We are happy to let you know that the '5 Nations' Adult Safeguarding and Protection Seminar series is returning for 2026, and we ask you to note and save the dates below if you are interested in attending.

The seminars will take place on Friday mornings from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Note: Friday March 27th may be longer than usual to allow coverage of the topic (TBC).

  • Friday 20 February - Mental Health, Capacity and Decision-Making
  • Friday 27 March - Adult Safeguarding - Policy developments across the 5 Nation
  • Friday 17 April - Domestic/Intrafamilial Abuse
  • Friday 29 May - Adult Safeguarding, Data Protection, and Information Sharing
     

How to access the seminars

A flyer for each seminar will issue in advance as usual, and will include further information on the speakers, their presentation title, and the Zoom link.

You will also find that information on their dedicated webpage (you can also access presentations from seminars at that link).

 

Future development of the seminars

The seminars rely on the voluntary input of time, energy and expertise of the organisers and speakers. As interest in the '5 Nations' seminars continues to grow, the organisers aim to meet the needs and interests of our attendees and continue to provide these free learning and development seminars for professionals across all disciplines and sectors interested in Adult Safeguarding.

Joint Children and Adults Safeguarding Conference (from 2015 to 2017)

The joint children and adults conference was organised by the LSCBs and the Safeguarding Adults Board in the West of Berkshire. This conference no longer runs.

MS awareness course for care workers and social care staff

A free online course with learning outcomes and content developed by people with MS and health and social care professionals, and produced in partnership with Grey Matter Learning. The course explores the different types of MS, how it impacts the care people may need, and how to support people with MS.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have introduced an Advanced Customer Support Team, whose role is to offer more support vulnerable individuals which will sometimes overlap with safeguarding interventions.

In Icon for pdf June 2023 DWP delivered a presentation to the Board detailing the function of this new team [478KB] .

 

 

Everyone's Business, a Safeguarding Podcast - The Public Law Podcast

Everyone's Business is a safeguarding podcast which explores interesting and unique perspectives in respect of safeguarding children and adults at risk. The series is part of 39 Essex Chambers' Public Law Podcast and features guests who can offer exceptional insight into the subject.

Annual health checks

It is recommended you take just 15 minutes to watch the Annual Health Checks during COVID and beyond video, which amplifies the voice of people with learning disabilities on the value of annual health checks in achieving better health and wellbeing outcomes. The video was produced by Berkshire West CCG, now know as the Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Intergrated Care Board (BOB ICB).
